Laxfiskar with 2 presentations at the annual meeting of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES)

This week the Annual meeting of ICES is ongoing in Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center in Reykjavik Iceland.  Number of scientists attending the meeting are close to 700 and the number of presentations are roughly 450. Among them are 2 that Johannes Sturlaugsson at the research company Laxfiskar will present.  One of them is revealing what knowledge was received from the first study on migration of Atlantic cod  using Pop-up Satellite Archival Tags (PSATs) to follow up their migration routes, behaviour and predation on them. The other one is presenting the first behavioural data on individual basis in Iceland on Atlantic wolffish from a study where geographical mapping of movements of these fish in the fjord Hvalfjord was included. That monitoring showed for example that during the study period the same wolffish individuals entered the fjord during the feeding migration period repeatedly , for up to 3 years in a row. This verified that wolffish in that area have what could be called a home feeding grounds.

It is possible to see the PowerPoint part of those presentations, for the cod study here and for the wolffish study here.
